Furthermore, HCWE showed virulence reduction effects in S. typhimurium-infected BALB/c mice. After a lethal dose of S. typhimurium, the mortality rate in the HCWE untreated group was 100% at 7 d, but the HCWE 25, 50, and 100 microg/ml groups survived until 11, 17, and 23 d, respectively. These data suggest that HCWE is stable and beneficial in the treatment of bacterial infection including intracellularly replicating pathogens and may solve antimicrobial misuse and overuse.
->HS a pu eliminer les bacteries PA adherentes et a pu empecher la formation de biofilmes par administration constante.HS displayed powerful effect on eliminating adherent Pa, and can inhibit Pa biofilm from being formed through continuous administration.
The sub-MIC sodium houttuyfonate and erythromycin have an inhibitory effect on S. epidermidis biofilm. The combination of sodium houttuyfonate and erythromycin shows a synergistic effect in inhibiting suspended bacteria and biofilm of S. epidermidis, particularly in inhibiting the metabolism of S. epidermidis biofilm bacteria and impacting the morphology of biofilm.
->Combine avec imipenem, SH montre une plus grande efficacite contre les biofilmes. La combinaison des 2 pourrait ameliorer l´efficacite clinique dans les infections associees. After being combined with imipenem, sodium houttuyfonate shows a higher effect against biofilms. It is expected that the combination of the two drugs could improve the clinical efficacy of associated infections.
Results showed that Houttuynia cordata Thunb. has strong absorption ability of lead. In the samples collected, the maximum lead content in the leaf, stem and root respectively was 40.03, 11.05, 7.57 mg/kg in Houttuynia cordata Thunb., in which the content was higher in stem than in root, and the highest in leaf,. Not only the maximum content was consistent with this order but also the lead content was in all samples. As vegetable, the lead content in the leaf, stem and root of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. was higher than the limit standard maximum levels of contaminants in foods(GB2762-2005) in China.
http://www.healingwell.com/community/de ... &m=2695915I used Houttuynia for my Bart infection - best thing I ever did!! I used it for 6 months and never have had the symptoms return in a year after treatment ended!
http://www.healingwell.com/community/de ... &m=2815829My practitioner had me make only 1 days worth at a time - it's a potency thing. And be sure to only allow it to steep for 10 minutes.
I was told to use 3 cups a day (1 cup, 3 times a day) - using only 3 grams of Houttuynia for each 'batch' of tea that I made.
This herb can be quite strong for some, causing some pretty intense herxing, so please do be careful!!
Houttuynia Cordata Thunb (HCT; Saururaceae), known as ‘Eosungcho’ in Korea, has been traditionally used for antibiotic treatment and has proved its effect through clinical demonstrations. In spite of it s being used quite frequently in traditional prescriptions because of its superior antibiotic effect, HCT’s molecular mechanisms on its antibiotic effect have not been understood. Hence, this is the first study about HCT’s antibiotic mechanisms at the molecular level. HCT was extracted to acquire the fractions, then inoculated to confirm its antibiotic effect toward the bacteria Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. coli O157:H7; ATCC 43894) through the disc diffusion method.
(...)
Results from this study indicate that E. coli O157:H7 exposures to HCT fractions, a number of genes that have been related to the synthesis of bacterial cell wall are downregulated, while some of the cell wall synthesis inhibitory genes are upregulated. Both results indicate that HCT fractions inhibit cell wall synthesis as like as β-lactam antibiotics. Furthermore, a few genes that have a critical role to DNA replication are downregulated. These genes, including folA, are closely related to the folate biosynthesis. Remarkable abnormal regulations that show antibiotic resistance activity of the E. coli O157: H7 are found, and are seem to be closely linked to the multidrug efflux pumps, especially upregulation of marRAB operon. The results of this study improve our understanding of the mode of action of HCT on E. coli O157:H7 and may show the usefulness of HCT fractions in the antibacterial treatment.

Stephen’s response:
If you have bartonella, then you will have to treat it as well as the lyme. The best easy protocol for bartonella is:
Sida acuta tincture (from woodlandessence.com or julie@gaianstudies.org) ¼ tsp 3x day for 30 days
Hawthorn tincture, same
Japanese knotweed, (tincture, same dose as above, from woodlandessence.com or julie@gaianstudies.org, or capsules from greendragonbotanicals.com 2 capsules 3x daily)
ECGC 400mg +- daily
Houttuyina (Yu Xing Cao – 1st Chinese Herbs, powder) 1 tbl daily
L-arginine 5000 mg daily in divided doses
Milk thistle seed, standardized, 1200 mg daily
All for 30 days.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have active herpes, chicken pox, or shingles DO NOT USE L-arginine.
In general, the most important thing is to decrease the inflammation dynamics that are occurring in the lyme (knotweed), increase immune strength (cat’s claw, rhodiola tincture – ¼ tsp 3x daily, eleuthero tincture, same), and work on the bartonella. Plus addressing specific symptoms.
